Roller Coasters are incredible creations. They allow you to feel sensations that you may not be able to experience anywhere else. They can help you conquer your fear of heights, help you burn calories, or just give you a great time. I have had the luxury of going to more than 25 theme parks and have ridden over 200 roller coasters. Today, I will be talking about my favorite roller coasters I have been on as of 2025.

Honorable Mentions: Pantherian (Intimidator 305), Wildcat’s Revenge, Time Traveler, Iron Rattler, Outlaw Run, Twisted Colossus, Twisted Timbers

10. X2 – Six Flags Magic Mountain, California

X2 might the craziest roller coaster on the list. This 215 ft drop and 76 mph top speed roller coaster sends 4.0 Gs through your body with insane intensity. Arrow Dynamics built this 4th Dimension coaster in 2002 as X and renovated in 2008, becoming X2. The technology on this coaster is incredible as your seat flips during the ride. I still remember going up the first hill on my back and then ending up going down the first drop face-first which is an absolutely insane feeling. It’s definitely one of a kind.

9. El Toro – Six Flags Great Adventure, New Jersey

This is the only true wooden coaster on the list and obviously my favorite wooden coaster on the planet. El Toro has a height of 181 ft and goes 70 mph with one of the best first drops of any coaster. This ride is forceful but also has much air time with insane floater hills and 4.4 Gs. Many people still consider this the best true wooden roller coaster in the world. It was built in 2006 by Intamin.

8. Stardust Racers – Epic Universe, Florida

This is the first launch coaster on the list. Mack Rides really crushed it when they designed this major dual-launch roller coaster. Both tracks reach heights of 113 ft and speeds up to 62 mph. Many people consider the green side more intense with a unique twist element; however, I enjoy the yellow side slightly more due to the air time. With that said, the experience on this ride is like no other when it comes to dueling and especially if you get a night ride. It was built in 2025 by Mack Rides.

7. Alpine Fury – Canada Wonderland, Ontario

Alpine Fury was built in 2025 by Premier Rides. This coaster is one of my favorite looking coasters with the all- white track and the snow and winter vibe. This has such a great first launch that takes you up 164 feet and has a max speed of 71 mph. This coaster also has 9 inversions which causes you to not know which direction you are going which is a phenomenal aspect for the ride. This is definitely Canada’s #1 coaster without question.

6. VelociCoaster – Islands Of Adventure, Florida

If it wasn’t for the other coasters on my list, this would be #1. This is pretty much the perfect coaster. It has a 155 ft top hat with two amazing launches and four inversions. The theming for this ride is perfect as you have many near misses with raptors and other elements. The all black track looks incredible which is a complete contrast in color to Alpine Fury. This also has potentially the best element on any roller coaster which is the Mosasaurus Roll which is an extreme heartline roll that sends riders upside-down and almost submerges them in the water lagoon. This was built in 2021 by Intamin.

5. ArieForce One – Fun Spot Atlanta, Georgia

ArieForce One is the most re-rideable coaster on this list. I was able to ride this masterpiece 11 times in a row. This 154 ft tall and 64 mph Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) coaster was built in 2023. The red, white, and blue color scheme looks amazing as well and I can see this coaster be listed as America’s Coaster. The 1st drop is intense but what really sets this coaster apart is its pacing and combination of air time, twist, and stall (one of the best stalls out there) elements. Also, the finish is one of the best finishes on the list if not the best.

4. Fury 325 – Carowinds, North Carolina

Now on to my home park. Fury 325 is the most intimidating coaster on this list when you look from the eye test. That 325 ft drop is pretty scary especially as you can see the rest of the park and see downtown Charlotte as you climb to the top. This is the tallest and best giga coaster in the world and goes 95 mph. This is another perfect coaster due to its airtime and low to the grown turns to keep the speed. In addition, this has one of the best barrel turn elements at 190 ft before it goes down under the bridge known as the “Hive Dive”. I have to ride this amazing coaster every time I go to Carowinds. Manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) and opened in 2015. Voted best steel coaster in the world multiple times.

3. Iron Gwazi – Busch Gardens Tampa, Florida

Now, on the top 3. This 206 ft drop (91- degree angle) and 76 mph hybrid monster has 3 incredible inversions including a barrel roll down-drop, over-banked curve, and Zero- G stall. The pacing on this coaster is perfect and it has one of the most intense drops of any coaster along with many airtime moments. The purple color scheme is beautiful and you truly have to brace yourself. The one thing I wish about this coaster is that it should be longer. Reimagined by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) in 2022.

2. Maverick – Cedar Point, Ohio

This is the most surprising coaster on this list in terms of the eye test; however, this smaller coaster in size has one of the largest punches in the world. That first LSM launch hill takes you up so fast 105 ft (95 – degree angle drop) and then you end up having a top speed on the coaster of 70 mph. The western theme fits this coaster perfectly. There are so many elements such as the horseshoe roll, over-banked turns, and multiple hills. However, the highlight of the ride is that 2nd LSM launch that takes you through the tunnel. Maverick truly is a masterpiece and you have no time to relax. In addition, some even consider this the best rollercoaster at Cedar Point. Built by Intamin and opened in 2007.

1. Steel Vengeance – Cedar Point, Ohio

Reimagined by Rocky Mount Construction (RMC) in 2018. This hybrid coaster is not for the weak which is probably why I like this coaster so much. That first 200 ft drop (90-degree angle) plummets you down so fast and then you have a top speed of 74 mph with 4 inversions. The elements include a reverse death roll, half stall, and two zero – g rolls. With that said, Steel Vengeance really shines because it has the most airtime of any roller coaster out there. This coaster is extremely intense and most people will only be able to get through it once especially due to how long it is. Because of the intensity and the airtime, you will be out of breath by the end of the ride and will need endurance if you want to keep riding. Many people today still consider this the best roller coaster on the Planet.
