1. Get Rid Of Distractions
Distractions can cause many people to not accomplish their goals. Even though you may not be able to get rid of everything, minimizing your distractions will allow you to be more productive.
Tips:
Go to a quiet place
Tell people around you to not distract you
Turn off phone notifications
Close your office door
Reflection 1: Distractions can be the determining factor on whether or not you reach your goals and potential.
2. Lock Your Social Media
If you have an urge to take a break every 5 minutes, then blocking your social media apps would be ideal. We all can get carried away with scrolling for 5 minutes that soon turns into 20 minutes. Do not let social media control your life and cause you to not reach your goals. In addition to social media apps, you need to get rid of entertainment apps as well such as Netflix and YouTube if you want to be able to focus.
Reflection 2: Don’t get lost in your phone.
3. SMART Goals
One reason people do not accomplish their goals is because they get overwhelmed. When someone has important goals to accomplish, he or she needs to be able to break them down so that they can achieve them more efficiently. The SMART formula is a way to break down goals.
SMART Formula:
Specific: What exactly needs to be done?
Measurable: How will you track your progress?
Achievable: Is it realistic? Can it be done by the deadline?
Relevant: How does it fit with the overall plan or bigger goal?
Timely: When does it need to be done?
Reflection 3: Breaking down goals allow you to be efficient.
4. Stay Mindful
How many of us can easily start day dreaming? I would say majority of people can say YES! Don’t feel bad for getting distracted; however, one has to acknowledge that they are drifting and find a way to get back on track. Try doing breathing techniques or counting if you have to in order to get on track. There is nothing wrong with drifting; however, you don’t want to completely fall off course.
Reflection 4: Train your mind to stay focus on the task at hand.
5. Fuel Body And Get Enough Rest
Getting enough rest and eating healthy are significant factors in accomplishing goals. The foods that you consume play an important role in how your body feels. One needs about 8 hours of sleep to be sufficient. Also, being tired is going to cause you to stay unfocused and to not be as effective.
Here are some tips:
Eat fruits, vegetables and nuts
Don’t drink caffeine before bed
Have a consistent sleep schedule
Turn off all electronic devices
Reflection 5: Taking deep breaths can calm your mind and allow you to focus on the positive.
2 Timothy 1:7 – For God gave us a spirt not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
